What is Maker Robotics?
Maker Robotics is where coding, engineering, and creativity collide!
In our hands-on Maker Robotics Camps, kids and teens explore how circuits, sensors, motors, and microcontrollers work - and learn to build their very own smart projects using platforms like Micro:bit and Arduino.
Through real-world problem-solving and the Engineering Design Process, campers transform ideas into working prototypes, developing critical thinking, teamwork, and innovation skills along the way.
Our Toronto Maker Robotics Camp is ready to take your child on their STEM journey where they imagine, design, engineer, invent, code and become MAKERS OF THE FUTURE
AI LIGHT & AI DEEP
NEW this Year
Kids ages 7 - 12 and TEENS will have an added layer of AI learning in all Maker Robotics (Physical Computing) Camps. AI LIGHT and AI DEEP camps are designed to introduce age-appropriate AI learning to make their cool projects cooler with AI
Maker Robotics vs. LEGO Robotics

Two Powerful Pathways into Robotics & Engineering
At Code-it Hacks Kids, we offer two distinct robotics learning tracks because children learn best in different ways. While both programs teach real coding, engineering, and problem-solving skills, the learning experience and outcomes are different.
Maker Robotics (Physical Computing)
LEGO Robotics (Engineering & Problem-Solving)

Best for kids who love inventing, tinkering, and building from scratch
Maker Robotics introduces students to physical computing, the process of combining code, electronics, and real-world materials to create interactive gadgets and smart devices.
What students learn
. - How electricity and circuits work (power, ground, inputs, outputs) - How microcontrollers act as the “brain” of a device - How sensors collect information and motors/actuators respond - How code directly controls real physical behaviour
How students build
. - Cardboard prototyping and maker materials - Sometimes 3D-printed parts or custom components - Motors, LEDs, buzzers, buttons, sensors - Microcontrollers such as micro: bit or Arduino
How coding fits in
. Students build first, then code their creation to: - Respond to inputs (motion, light, sound, buttons) - Trigger actions (movement, sound, lights) - Behave like a real smart device or toy

Best for kids who enjoy building, structure, and solving challenges
LEGO Robotics focuses on engineering design and mechanical thinking using LEGO Education SPIKE Essential or SPIKE Prime kits.
What students learn
. - Mechanical engineering concepts (gears, levers, motion, force) - How structures affect stability and performance - How sensors and motors improve mechanical systems - How to break down real-world problems into solvable steps
How students build
. - Multiple guided and open-ended LEGO builds - Robots are designed to complete missions or solve challenges - Iterative design: build → test → improve
How coding fits in
. Students program robots to: - Move with precision - React to sensors - Optimize performance for specific tasks - Solve increasingly complex missions
Why Kids and TEENS Love Maker Robotics Camps
Maker Robotics isn’t just about following instructions; it’s about imagining, designing, and building something new.
Here’s why it clicks so well with kids and teens:
Hands-on Action
Circuits, motors, and code come alive right before their eyes.
Creative Freedom
They design their own SMART gadgets- anything from robots to smart cars. If they can imagine it, then they can build it with the tools and the power of coding
Problem-Solving
When something doesn’t work, they troubleshoot and iterate.
Pride of Creation
Nothing beats the feeling of making a robot move or a circuit light up from scratch!
“Maker Robotics camp empowers kids to become creators, engineers, and problem-solvers — not just tech consumers..”
