Forky Junk Robot
MAKER ROBOTICS - STEM DEEP
In Forky Junk Robot, your child becomes a real robot inventor!
Inspired by the idea that even everyday materials can become something amazing, campers design, build, and code their own robot using micro:bit, servo motors, and recycled materials.
This hands-on Maker Robotics camp introduces young learners to circuits, movement, and block-based coding in a fun, beginner-friendly way.
Campers see their code come to life as lights blink, motors move, and robots respond to inputs, all while building confidence as young engineers.

This camp is designed especially for ages 4–5 and 6-7 and balances creativity, guided instruction, and playful exploration.
Solution Topic
Through playful building and guided exploration, students investigate how simple code and electronics bring physical creations to life.
Students explore questions such as:
What makes a robot a robot?
How can a tiny computer tell lights to turn on or motors to move?
What happens when we press a button or change the code?
How do wires, motors, and sensors work together to make something move?
How can we improve our robot when it doesn’t work the first time?
Design, Experiment, Build
Kids will:
Learn the engineering design process for product design
Ideate, brainstorm what makes a toy fun and SMART?
Learn about simple machines and the fundamentals of Robotics
Coding fundamentals
Build circuits with motors and sensors to design and build an exciting SMART TOY with Micro:bit that can move on command, light up in the dark, or make sounds - You Decide!

Camp Learning Journey
Day 1: Meet micro:bit & Robot Basics
Campers explore what robots are and how they work. They are introduced to the micro:bit, learn about inputs and outputs, and begin simple block-based coding to control lights and buttons.
Day 2: Circuits, Lights & Movement
Your child connects electronic components such as LEDs and servo motors. Campers learn how code can make things move and light up, testing simple programs and seeing immediate results.+M3
Day 3: Build Your Junk Robot
Using cardboard and recycled materials, campers design and build the body of their robot. They attach components and experiment with how physical design affects movement and behaviour.
Day 4: Sensors & Smarter Robots
Campers add simple sensors and learn how robots can react to their environment. They improve their code and refine their robot designs through testing and problem-solving.
Day 5: Final Builds & Robot Showcase
The final day focuses on finishing touches, creative customization, and sharing. Campers proudly showcase their robots and demonstrate how their code controls real-world actions.

What will you learn?
Fundamentals of Coding
Circuits and Robotics Introduction
How sensors detect actions and trigger responses
Scoring logic and basic game mechanics
How motors create movement
Testing, debugging, and improving designs
Friendly intro to AI
3D printing workshop
What will you make?
A custom-built junk robot using cardboard and recycled materials
A working robotics project using micro:bit and electronic components
Programs that control lights, motors, and sensors
What will you take?
Your child’s completed robot project with the micro:bit, all electronic components, and craft materials used in the build
Digital coding skills and engineering confidence

Friday Fun Day
The week ends with a robot showcase where campers demonstrate their creations, explain how they work, and celebrate their achievements in a fun, supportive environment.
PIZZA LUNCH DAY (Campers enjoy PIZZA lunch Party on Friday - On us!)
We will know closer to the camp week if this camp will head to a TECH Company.

Why does this camp matter?
Forky Junk Robot helps young learners understand that technology isn’t just something you watch or play with, it’s something you can build. By combining coding, circuits, and hands-on making, your child develops real-world problem-solving skills and early engineering confidence that carries into future STEM learning.
What if everyday objects could come to life?
In Forky Junk Robot, young inventors transform recycled materials into a one-of-a-kind robot friend. With a little creativity, code, and curiosity, campers discover that even “junk” can become something amazing.
