STEM DEEP - MAKER ROBOTICS

Trolls, Tiaras, and Wand Maker

Ages 4 - 7

Trolls, Tiaras, and Wand Maker

MAKER ROBOTICS - STEM DEEP

Step into a world of magic, mystery, and invention! In Trolls, Tiaras, and Wand Maker, your child becomes a magical engineer, designing enchanted wands, solving mystical challenges, and bringing creations to life using real technology.

This imaginative camp blends coding, circuits, and hands-on making in a playful, story-driven environment. Using micro:bit, a child-friendly programmable device, campers learn how simple code can control lights, movement, and interactive features. Through guided lessons and creative building, campers discover that magic and technology aren’t so different after all.

This camp is designed especially for ages 4–5 and 6-7 and balances creativity, guided instruction, and playful exploration.

Solution Topic

Through playful building and guided exploration, students investigate how simple code and electronics bring physical creations to life.

Students explore questions such as:

  • What makes a robot a robot?

  • How can a tiny computer tell lights to turn on or motors to move?

  • What makes Arcade games fun?

  • What happens when we press a button or change the code?

  • How can we improve our robot when it doesn’t work the first time?

Design, Experiment, Build

Kids will:

  • Learn the engineering design process for product design

  • Ideate and brainstorm which magical inventions will bring the kingdom back to life

  • Learn about simple machines and the fundamentals of Robotics

  • Coding fundamentals

  • Build a magical invention with circuits, motors and sensors and a Micro:bit controller that can move on command, light up in the dark, or make sounds - You Decide!

BONUS: : MICRO:BIT and accompanying motor and sensors are complementary. Students will take the entire project home

Camp Learning Journey

Day 1: Welcome to the Magical Realm Coding Fundamentals

Campers are welcomed into a fantasy world of trolls, tiaras, and enchanted objects. They meet the micro:bit and learn how simple code can make lights turn on and off, just like magic.

Day 2: Enchanted Lights & Circuits

Your child explores how circuits work by connecting LEDs and other components. Campers learn how code can control lights and effects, experimenting with different inputs and outputs.

Day 3: Wand Building & Magical Interactions

Campers design and build their own enchanted wand or magical artifact using craft materials and recyclables. They combine their build with coded behaviours, such as lighting up or reacting to movement.

Day 4: Spells, Sensors & Problem-Solving

Your child adds interactivity using simple sensors. Campers test their creations, fix mistakes, and improve how their magical devices respond, learning that debugging is part of every great spell.

Day 5: Magical Showcase & Celebration

The week concludes with a magical showcase where campers demonstrate their creations, explain how they work, and celebrate their journey as young inventors.

SKILLS GAINED

Why does this camp matter?

Trolls, Tiaras, and Wand Maker shows young learners that technology can be creative, playful, and empowering. By blending storytelling with coding and circuits, your child learns that behind every “magical” effect is thoughtful design and problem-solving, skills that form the foundation of future STEM learning.

Step into a magical kingdom where wands glow, tiaras sparkle, and inventions feel enchanted!

Campers become magical engineers, designing interactive creations that respond with lights and motion,  proving that technology can feel just as magical as fairy tales.
