STEM DEEP - ENGINEERING ROBOTICS

Submerged ( Ocean Robotics Explorer)

Ages 4 - 7

Submerged ( Ocean Robotics Explorer)

LEGO ROBOTICS - STEM DEEP

Dive into ocean exploration with LEGO robotics! In this hands-on LEGO Robotics summer camp for ages 4 - 5 and 6 - 7, kids build, code, and explore as they travel through the Sunlight Zone, Twilight Zone, and Abyssal Zone of the ocean.

Campers design LEGO models that represent submarines, sea explorers, habitats, and research structures used in real underwater exploration. As they journey deeper each day, kids solve age-appropriate engineering challenges by building strong structures, testing movement, and learning how robots help humans explore the ocean.

Using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential and beginner-friendly block-based coding, students learn how motors create movement, how robots can sense their environment, and how engineers test and improve designs. No prior experience needed.

Solution Topic

Through guided builds and ocean-themed challenges,

Campers will:

  • Learn how block-based coding controls motors, lights, and actions

  • Explore cause-and-effect by adjusting speed, direction, and timing

  • Build engineering structures such as habitats, stations, and supports

  • Solve underwater exploration problems through hands-on building

  • Practice teamwork, communication, and creative problem-solving

Design, Experiment, Build

Campers will:

  • Learn the engineering design process

  • Learn the basics of Coding

  • Learn the basics of Robotics

  • Ideate, brainstorm, Engineer, and build robots to solve pre-defined missions

Camp Learning Journey

Day 1: What Is Energy & How Do Robots Move?

Campers explore what energy is and how machines use energy to move. They are introduced to LEGO SPIKE Essential, learn how motors work, and write simple block-based programs to control movement.

Day 2: Building Moving Machines

Your child builds LEGO models that spin, lift, or roll. Campers experiment with how speed, direction, and force affect movement and learn how changing code changes what their robot does.

Day 3: Problem-Solving with Robots

Campers are given simple challenges that require them to improve their robot designs. They test, debug, and refine their code while learning that mistakes are part of the engineering process.

Day 4: Design, Improve & Collaborate

Your child works with teammates to enhance their robot, adding features and improving performance. Campers practice explaining their ideas and working together to solve problems.

Day 5: Showcase & Celebration

The final day focuses on finishing touches and sharing. Campers demonstrate how their robots move, explain how their code works, and celebrate their accomplishments in a fun showcase.

SKILLS GAINED

Why does this camp matter?

Superpowered helps young learners understand how technology and energy shape the world around them. By building and coding robots, your child develops problem-solving skills, engineering confidence, and an early understanding of how machines work, skills that transfer to future STEM learning and everyday thinking.

Dive beneath the waves and explore the ocean depths!

In Submerged, young engineers journey through the Sunlight, Twilight, and Abyssal Zones as they build and code robots inspired by real underwater explorers and research tools.
