Ages 4 - 7

Carnival Rides

LEGO ROBOTICS - STEM DEEP

Welcome to Carnival Rides, a playful robotics adventure where your child becomes an engineer, creator, and coder all in one!

Campers explore the exciting world of carnival attractions, from spinning rides to moving games, while learning how robots, motors, and code work together to bring their ideas to life.

Using LEGO SPIKE Essential kits and block-based coding, kids build robotic models that move and interact just like parts of a real carnival.

Through hands-on builds, creative challenges, and playful exploration, your child learns the fundamentals of robotics, design thinking, and problem-solving, all in a supportive environment with peers.

Solution Topic

This immersive camp helps campers see how engineering and coding come together in playful and exciting ways.

Your child wil explore:

  • How will you design a SMART carnival?

  • How will you make it fun?

Design, Experiment, Build

Kids will:

  • Learn the engineering design process

  • Design the carnival ground and rides

  • Build their fabulous one-of-a-kind carnival ground with smart rides

  • Learn the basics of Coding

  • Learn and work with Robotics components: Motors, sensors and light grids

Camp Learning Journey

Day 1: Welcome to the Carnival Build & Explore

Morning: Campers are introduced to the theme of carnival rides and to how robots can simulate movement. Your child begins building their first SPIKE Essential model and learns how to attach motors.

Afternoon: Campers explore the basics of coding by writing simple block-based programs that make their robots move or spin,  just like the motion of carnival attractions.

Day 2: Motion & Mechanics - Spins, Turns & Rides

Morning: Your child builds on foundational skills by creating structures that turn, lift, or roll. Campers learn how gears and wheels work together to create motion.

Afternoon: Coding challenges bring movement to life.  Campers program direction, speed, and timing to control their creations.

Day 3: Playful Problems - Create & Improve

Morning: Campers work on refining their carnival models with additional moving parts. They begin integrating sensors or programmed behaviours to respond to simple inputs.

Afternoon: Campers evaluate how their models perform, troubleshoot issues, and improve designs, learning that testing and refinement are part of engineering.

Day 4: Collaboration & Advanced Builds

Morning: Your child collaborates with teammates to combine carnival ride ideas or add new motion sequences. Campers stretch creativity and engineering thinking.

Afternoon: Coding becomes more expressive as campers add interactive features and multiple movement sequences to their models.

Day 5: Carnival Showcase & Celebration

Morning: Campers put finishing touches on their robotic carnival rides and make final code improvements.

Afternoon: The week culminates in a Carnival Showcase, where campers demonstrate their working robots, explain how they engineered motion, and celebrate together.

SKILLS GAINED

Why does this camp matter?

Carnival Rides helps young learners understand how engineering and coding work together in real-world motion and machines. By building and programming LEGO robots that move, spin, and interact, your child gains hands-on experience with robotics, creative thinking, and collaboration, all while having fun. Code-it Hacks Kids

The carnival is open!

In this playful robotics adventure, campers design moving rides, spinning attractions, and interactive games. Young engineers discover how real carnival rides are powered by motors, gears, and code.
