IGNITELAB
Inventors’ Lab (Winter)
Circuits and Inventions
In winter, students step into the role of young inventors.
Using circuits: Micro:bits & Arduino, students will take a deep dive into the world of electronics, coding and product design and development. They expand their digital portfolio by learning new game design skills with 2D projects in Arcade, experimenting with randomness, scoring, and conditional logic. With Minecraft, they engineer Redstone contraptions.
This blend of digital and physical making encourages kids to see technology as something they can shape with their own hands.
By the Expo, parents will tour an “Inventors’ Alley” of student-built gadgets alongside an Arcade corner of new games.

FUN FACTOR
Invent gadgets with lights, sensors, and sound
Create fast-paced mini games with timers and scoring
Engineer secret doors and traps in Minecraft with Redstone
Share their gadget at the Inventors’ Expo and demo it to parents
Become a “young inventor” and see classmates’ booths in action
ENRICHMENT FACTOR
Connects coding, electronics, and digital circuits in one theme
Encourages design thinking: ideate, prototype, test, and improve
Shows parallels between Redstone logic and real-world circuits
Strengthens patience and resilience through trial-and-error building
Boosts creativity by mixing hardware, software, and virtual making
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Master inputs/outputs with micro:bits and Arduino (buttons, LEDs, sensors)
Explore conditionals and randomness in game design
Understand circuit logic through Minecraft Redstone engineering
Apply design thinking to prototype working gadgets
Build confidence by presenting and explaining inventions
TERM & EXPO
